Random Bits and Pieces

My Own TV Cooking Show

Every time I go into the kitchen for longer than about 30 seconds lately, I have an audience. Most of the time it's just Kate and Sawyer, but occasionally it's Callie and Kate and Sawyer. They all sit pretty, waiting to see what I'm going to do, hoping it will somehow end up involving me making really tasty food and/or treats for them, or dropping lots of little pieces of whatever I'm making for me.

I keep feeling like I have my own cooking show. Like I should be explaining to the cat (or cats) and the dog what exactly I'm doing. Not like they could understand me even if I did narrarate for them... I feel weird just doing whatever I'm doing with all of them staring intently at me.

It's times like these when having doors actually in our doorways would be helpful. Then the 18 animals couldn't be underfoot all the damn time.

Oh well.

A Funny Commercial

You know which commercial has been cracking me up lately? The one for the 5-hour Energy drink with Steve Wallace, where Steve mentions going fishing with friends and picking up 4 or 5 5-Hour Energy shots at a gas station. Then, next thing he knows, it's 4 o'clock in the morning and they're all wide awake and still fishing. "We're still fishing and we're still catching fish and it kept us wide awake. You react a lot faster, your eyes are wide open and you're paying a lot more attention to what's going on..."

One time when that commercial was on, I turned to TheMister and said, "You know what else has that effect?"

TheMister: "No. What?"

Me: "Meth."

To me, it sounds like one of those things that yes, you CAN do it, but that doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD.

All of the extra fish they caught when they were cracked out on those energy shots probably really wish Steve Wallace had never seen that 5-hour Energy shot earlier that day.

*grin*

Sitting Pretty

I was sitting in my chair today watching TV. (Shocking!) Kate was laying on my lap, demanding that I cuddle with and pet her for as long as she wanted me to. Sawyer kept coming around the footrest of my chair, making his sad, whining noise and resting his chin on things, which he always does when he wants something.

I asked him, "Do you want the KITTY OFF my lap?" He just kept looking at me.

Then I asked him, "Do you want me to make the KITTY PLAY with you?"

He made one of his affirmative noises, backed up a couple of feet and sat pretty, looking at me. I tried to explain that I couldn't make her play with him, and she seemed to be pretty content lying on my lap, so I didn't really want to kick her off.

I think he quite enjoyed himself yesterday when Kate kept getting all cracked out on catnip and then running around, chasing invisible crack bugs and playing with the puppy when she came near him. He gets this crazy-joyous look on his face when he's playing with Kate that always puts a smile on my face.

I'm happy we decided to keep her. I'm pretty sure Sawyer is, too.

Happy Monday!
