Things are better at work now. The full staff meeting on the 10th and the "just guys" meeting directly after that finally made them realize that "Gee, [JaneofAllTrades] is doing twice the work of everyone else. Is that why she's so cranky? Perhaps we should fix it!"
My office manager called me in before noon that day and told me I'd been doing a GREAT job, but would I mind terribly if they gave one of the guys I was working with to someone else? I pretty much said, "Hell no, go for it!" Then I gave P the six files that I had to do stuff on for the guy she was given, so I could concentrate on the other gajillion I had to do for the guy I kept.
So, work has been MUCH better lately. Of course, it did take us until today (the 20th) to finish sending out the month-end printouts, which normally takes us 4 business days from the beginning of the month AT THE MOST, so some things still need to be ironed out.
Now, if only my stupid painful ears would get better. I spent about 10 minutes in class last Thursday thinking, "Aw crap. My right ear drum is going to rupture right here and now, and I don't even have any tissues to clean it up with since I used my last one to stop my finger from bleeding earlier in class." My third doctor visit in 3 months finally netted me a referral to an ENT. The doctor I saw Friday suggested that I might need ear tubes again. Erm, how about not? From the medical records my mom sent me from when I was young, it doesn't look like my ear infections lessened much after I got tubes. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the ENT says before I get too anti- one particular treatment. Until then, I'll continue popping Vic0din when I absolutely need to, trying the various medications doctor prescribe, daydreaming about shoving knitting needles in my ears to relieve the pain/pressure and irritating the hell out of everyone around me by not being able to hear a damn thing anymore.
Thank God for lip reading.
And for vacations to the frozen tundra of the Midwest to hang out with my special internet friends this coming weekend. Woo!
