Review update and Cincinnati trip

There is so much to update on!

To start: my review on Thursday.

**********************************

So, my review was scheduled for 10 AM. My boss comes in, all hurried and rushing around, and says to give him a bit of time to get caught up on some things.

So, 11 AM rolls around... Nothing.

Noon rolls around...nothing. Bitch From Hell goes to lunch, and I haven't heard ANYTHING from my boss. Erm, yeah. By that time, my blood sugar was super low, and I felt like I was going to cry in my review no matter what was said.

I decide to eat some oatmeal to tide me over.

12:30 PM...I drop off a file to my boss, and he finally says, "How about 2? Ok?"

I agree, because really, what am I going to say? "Umm...no. Not okay."?? (I knew I would get pushed back, because one of the boys was getting his review at 1 pm, and we wouldn't want to make a male wait, now would we?)

So, FINALLY at about 2:45 PM, he comes to get me.

Long story short: I'm doing a good job, just need to double check things a bit more, they're very impressed with the fact that I can do pretty much anything they throw at me. 4% raise (equaling 6% for the year), $700 bonus. Not bad. Then I get about 25 minutes of stupid stories from my boss. I'm thinking, "Yeah, okay, great. Can I go back to work now?"

Overall, it went really well. It's sort of sad that I only hear that I'm doing a good job once a year, but hey, I'll take what I can get.

Also on Friday, Officemate and I discovered why we haven't gotten a freaking bonus since May... We use a code in the client level of our system to indicate that they're involved in the whole transfer thing, and this is used when we run the report to show how much has been moved. Well, apparently someone has been taking this code out. We went through every single person who has been transferred, and each of us found about 12 people that had the code taken out. ONE of mine alone was $123,085. We're definitely to our next goal, and might be really close to the one after that. WOO!

We both think we should get a bit extra for finding out what was happening, but I'm not holding my breath.

Friday I threw a bunch of things in my suitcase, and we headed for Cincinnati. (I realized that night that I had forgotten to pack my toothbrush. Oops.) It only took us about 5 hours to get there. We originally intended to go out and do something that night, but ended up passing out on the bed for a couple hours. Oops. We were hungry, so we took a little tour of the area, ate at a Skyline Chili, and ran to CVS to pick up a few things. (And by "a few things," I mean that I spent $62 on stuff.)

Saturday morning we woke up early, got ready, ate a bit of breakfast at our hotel, and headed to the photographer's studio. I got my makeup done while we all chatted and got to know each other a bit. The photographer and makeup artist were both around my age (25-ish), so I had a lot more in common with them than with photographers I've shot with in the past.

All in all, we had a lot of fun on Saturday. We shot for about 7 hours, with lots of different outfit changes, different locations, etc.

At one point I was in a slip, jeans and high heels in front of this old movie theater. The photographer said, "We can do this either with jeans on or jeans off. It's up to you."

I said, "I'll do whatever. Doesn't matter to me."

He said, "Take them off, then."

*grin*

I got several honks, a wolf whistle, and STARED AT by a few bikers. Apparently they liked that look.

We were yelled at by a mean parking attendant (who told us we weren't allowed to be on the bridge), went "off-roading" at an old iron ore factory/refinery/whatever, met a nice homeless man, and enjoyed the sight of me toddling around on 6 inch Hustler heels. Ouch.

I'm very pleased with the pictures we got. I'll post some after I do a bit of editing.

Sunday's highlight was the Newport Aquarium. (We were going to go to the Cincinnati Zoo, but were told by the photographer and M.A. that the aquarium was MUCH BETTER.)

It was pretty fun. We saw tons of different fish, EELS (eek!), sharks, turtles, sting rays, jellyfish, otters, and lorikeets.

Feeding the lorikeets was an adventure. Those things are shit machines, and I swear they were purposely moving around on the branches and vines so they'd be ABOVE people when they shat. I got my fair share of poo.

We each bought a nectar cup, and fed some birds. I had a piggy bird who drank the entire cup of nectar, and then proceeded to try to eat both the plastic cup and my fingers. (Hopefully my husband will send me some of the pictures so I can post them here.) A woman standing near the exit to the aviary had a container of Wet Naps. *grin* She offered me one, and I happily accepted. Thank goodness some people are prepared!

It ended up being a pretty good weekend. It was nice to get away, but even nicer to be home with the cats and to sleep in our own bed last night.

Now I just have to get through another month before we can take off again...this time to JOURNALCON!!!
