Thanksgiving

The snow last Wednesday was absolutely insane. First, there was a winter storm warning. Then, it had supposedly gone south of us and we may or may not end up with around two inches of snow. Then, HOLD ONTO YOUR HATS, 'cause we're in for a bumpy ride!!!

It started snowing hard around 11 AM and by around noon the roads were a complete clusterfuck. Ice and people sliding off the road and other people driving 2 miles an hour, because for some reason everyone forgets how to drive when the first snow occurs.

My boss let us out not even a tiny bit early (because he cares so much about our safety), and it ended up taking me about an hour to get home. Well, a half hour to get home and another half hour to go to the pizza place, wait for the pizza to be made, and to (FINALLY!) get home.

I nearly fell asleep on the drive home. My car sat in the same exact spot for a good 10 minutes. (This was when we weren't going a mere 1 mph.) I nearly peed myself in excitement when our speed surpassed 10 mph.

Yeah. So...first snow? Who are you kidding? Which one of us are you mad at?

BLAH.

Weather like that makes me wish I had enough money to buy my new winter boots already.
And a remote car starter.

*sigh*

Oh well. Good things come to those who wait. Right?

We had a lovely Thanksgiving this year. My husband cooked most of the stuff, so I wasn't too stressed out trying to time everything perfectly. I made my usual sweet potatoes, and that was about it. Other than that, I cleaned. A LOT.

Did you know that when you spray Clorox with Teflon bathroom cleaner on an old and crappy plastic padded toilet seat, the seat turns purple? I didn't either. Now I do.

My sister came over a bit earlier than everyone and we had a chance to chat a bit before there were too many people there. My parents and the in-laws ended up coming about the same time.
We had a lovely meal with excellent wine, good conversation, and not too much pressure from my mother-in-law to hurry up and pop some babies out.

People stayed for a couple hours after dinner was over so we could all shoot the shit, mostly talking about changes in this country and why the Shrub sucks.

Good times. Good times.

Friday I actually dragged my hermit self out of bed at an insane hour (5:45 AM), got ready and headed out to fight the hordes of people in the name of good deals.

We got some pretty good stuff at some REALLY good prices, and I didn't even kick anyone! GO ME!

After a bit of lying around on the couches and watching movies, we headed over to my parents' house to visit with them, my sister and brother-in-law, and my niece and nephew. We ate, sat around and talked, and watched the kids morph from angels into demons as the day went on.

Eventually my sister and brother-in-law got tired of yelling at the kids and they all left, followed shortly by my husband and I.

We proceeded to go home, enjoy some herbal refreshment, watch TV and eat everything that wasn't nailed down.

Saturday and Sunday are really a bit of a blur. I know we spent a lot of time chillin' those days. I went to a few different stores in the mall in order to FINALLY find "the perfect dress" for my boss's Christmas Party on the 4th. It's GORGEOUS. And? It was only $20. I just hope the dry cleaner can get the grease spots out of it. Keep your fingers crossed for me, please.

If you want to know what it looks like, fear not. Since it's me, you can be assured that sooner or later there will be pictures of THE DRESS in here.

This might also explain why I'm definitely going to the gym tonight. Elliptical, here I come!

(Why does thinking about working out really make me want a donut?)
